Established in 2018, Northeastern Mock Trial is an entirely undergraduate student-run program that participates year round in simulated trials through the American Mock Trial Association. We have three teams that develop legal cases and compete around the Northeast against and at different schools. Current, we have two teams nationally ranked at 115th and 172th in the nation. Our club is open to all undergraduate students from all majors and has a range of members all from different academic backgrounds.
What is Mock Trial?
At the beginning of the school year, teams get a case involving a legal issue and have the whole year to develop arguments and compete against other schools. Members perform as both attorneys and witnesses and go through all the steps of a real trial: opening and closing arguments, witness examinations, and objections.
Trials are a chance to gain hands-on legal experience while gaining skills in public speaking, acting, and debate.
In the past 7 years, Northeastern Mock Trial has grown significantly! Each year we place at tournaments and take home several individual awards. Take a look at some of our program’s milestones.

2023-2024
The first time in Northeastern Mock Trial history a team made it on the open bid list for the Opening Round Championship Series from the Chestnut Hill Regional!
Christine Guarnieri ‘26 won an All-Region Attorney Award (19 ranks).
2023-2024
Northeastern Mock Trial made it off the open bid list and competed for the first time in the Opening Round Championship Series in New Rochelle, NY.
Kaedyn Murphy ‘25 won an All-National Witness Award (27 ranks).
2024-2025
Northeastern Mock Trial had yet another team qualify for the open bid list for the Opening Round Championship Series from the Providence Regional!
Kaitlyn Harle ‘27 won TWO All-Region Witness Awards (19 & 17 ranks).
2024-2025
Northeastern Mock Trial got not one, but TWO direct bids to the Opening Round Championship Series securing 3rd and 4th place at the New London Regional tournament!
Odessa Sanchez ‘26 won an All-Region Witness Award (18 ranks). Ella Chin ‘25, Noelle Furnanz ‘26, and Crystal Lin ‘25 won All-Region Attorney Awards (18 ranks, 18 ranks, and 19 ranks respectively).
2024-2025
Two Northeastern teams traveled to New Rochelle, NY for the Opening Round Championship! This is the first time we sent two teams to that level of the competition.
Gabrielle Tanen ‘27 won an All-National Witness Award (16 ranks)!

While we prepare cases and compete, our club is about more than mock trial - it’s about community! Outside of competitions, we have weekly dinners, team bonding nights, and other group activities!
