February was a jam-packed month of regional competitions for Northeastern Mock Trial! Every team was busy memorizing, practicing, and fine-tuning in the weeks leading up to our American Mock Trial Association regional tournaments … the moment to determine whether or not we make it to the Opening Round Championship Series!

Scrimmages, Scrimmages, and more Scrimmages!

We headed into February with a robust internal scrimmage schedule! Our three teams went head to head on the weekends practicing our cases.

We also got a chance to scrimmage some other schools! Team “Nothing But the Truth” scrimmaged MIT and Team “The Whole Truth” scrimmaged Tufts this month. Great practice!

Regionals Time!

Team “The Truth” Competes at Week 2 Regionals!

For Week 2 of Regionals, Team “The Truth” competed at Brown University. The team ended with a record of 5 WINS — this placed them on the open bid list, making them the 2nd Northeastern mock trial team ever to do so! At the time this was the second best any team of ours has done at regional tournaments. HOORAY!

And of course, 5 wins wasn’t the only thing our team got!

Our teammate Kaitlyn Harle walked away with TWO All-Region Witness awards for her performance on both the plaintiff and defense! CONGRATULATIONS KAITLYN! So proud!

Teams “The Whole Truth” & “Nothing But the Truth” at Week 3 Regionals!

The following weekend, our two remaining teams traveled to Connecticut College for their regional tournament! BOTH finished the tournament with a record of 6 WINS securing TWO direct bids to the Opening Round Championship Series (ORCS) in New Rochelle, NY. Team “Nothing But the Truth” finished in 3rd place while Team “The Whole Truth” followed closely behind in 4th place. As the only school that got two teams out to ORCS at the tournament, this was the first time in our program’s history we 1) secured a direct bid to ORCS and 2) got two teams out!
